Danielle’s Journey of Transition

Danielle Dobson

Danielle Dobson’s experience within Classic LifeCare is one marked by personal evolution and professional development. Danielle initially joined our Vancouver team in 2016 as a Client Care Coordinator. She scheduled care for private clients in Vancouver before moving to Prince George in 2020. When Danielle relocated to Prince George, she had little idea about the significant career changes awaiting her.

Classic LifeCare Opens in Prince George

The acquisition of Northern Home Care in 2019 led Danielle to consider relocating to Prince George where her family was living. A year later she made the move and assumed a role in Prince George as a Client Care Coordinator. However, adjusting to a smaller team dynamic and a different workplace culture was challenging for Danielle. In addition to the relocation challenges, Classic had just introduced AlayaCare, a new scheduling program. All these changes made the transition more difficult.

Shortly after moving to Prince George, Danielle was appointed Service Coordinator. In this new position, she took on the responsibility of overseeing the Client Care Coordinators and the overall branch operations. Her proudest achievement was growing the Prince George branch “I am so proud of our team in Prince George and I love watching each member grow. We have a great team who are compassionate, hard-working, and ambitious.”

Thriving in a Supportive Environment

Danielle is grateful for all the opportunities and encouragement she has received at Classic LifeCare. When asked what her favourite thing about Classic LifeCare is, she affectionally responds with a list “the management, support within the team, understanding approach towards mistakes, encouragement for personal growth, our impactful services, and the difference we make in people’s lives.” For Danielle, Classic embodies the ideal blend of a vibrant, energetic workplace coupled with professionalism where people can thrive.

Sharing her most memorable moment at Classic LifeCare, she says “I wasn’t long at Classic LifeCare Vancouver, when Lissa organized a vision board session with the entire office. This moment was impactful for me as it highlighted the vitality within the company. It also shifted my mindset toward considering the future and my personal goals more deeply.”

Taking Pride in Personal Evolution

Danielle admittedly says she struggled when she was appointed the Service Coordinator in 2021. She found managing the Prince George operations and team challenging and she was not comfortable with authority and that level of responsibility. However, Classic believed in her and did whatever they could to provide support. She now appreciates the encouragement, acknowledging that her skills have significantly improved over the past two years.

“I am so proud of my development over the past two years. I have enhanced my leadership, organizational, and communication skills. I moved out of my comfort zone and while there were challenges along the way, I’m glad I did it.”

Community Connections and Engagement

As a Service Coordinator, Danielle has enjoyed learning more about public care and building relationships with our public partners Northern Health and WorkSafe BC. She also loves visiting clients, and it reminds her how her hard work is helping others.

This year, the Classic LifeCare Prince George team participated in community events like Summerfest and the Seniors Fair at BCNE. These community events were a highlight for Danielle as she got to interact with lots of incredible people. She aspires to deepen their community connections and provide valuable support and guidance to community members in need.
