What attracted you to Classic LifeCare?
I was initially intrigued by the job posting. I was hired by Classic LifeCare and its sister company CONNECT Communities, so the job posting described a role that dealt with lots of different personalities and two very distinct company cultures. Immediately, I knew I wouldn’t be bored. When I met the leaders for each company, I was sold. They conveyed the mission, vision and values in such a sincere way, I knew I found a job that would be meaningful to me.
-
What was your experience prior to working at Classic LifeCare?
My background and initial schooling was in print journalism. After working in newspapers for 5 years, I decided to go back to university to get a degree in Communications. I have worked in land banking, alternative energy, outdoor lifestyle.
-
How has your experience been working at Classic LifeCare?
I have truly loved my 10 years at Classic LifeCare. My role has evolved over those years and I feel like I have helped in some ways to contribute to the company’s growth and achievements.
-
What is your favourite work memory over the past 10 years?
I was in Hamilton, Ontario, a few years ago with leaders from both Classic LifeCare and CONNECT working on a proposal. We worked hard during the days, but also had a ton of fun hanging out. It felt like we were away together for a bonding experience, more than a big work project.
-
What project/(s) have you most enjoyed working on?
When we have expanded into new markets or successfully submitted proposals for contracted business, I find those moments satisfying and exciting. I also really enjoyed working on the company videos for the companies.
-
What do you enjoy most about your role?
I love the diversity of my role. No two days are the same. And because I work for Classic LifeCare and our sister company, CONNECT, I get to work with lots of different people each week.
-
What was the most important lesson you learned over the past 10 years?
I have learned a lot from Andrea Warren, who is on medical leave right now, but who was the Executive Leader of Classic LifeCare for most of my years working here. Andrea is one of my heroes and a true example of resilience, attitude and gratitude. She has taught me a lot about appreciating the simple things in life, which add up to create a really beautiful existence.

In three words, how would you describe Classic LifeCare?
Vitality. Compassion. Dignity.
