5-Years of Caring for Seniors in Comox
Healthcare worker Denise has dedicated the last five years to caring for seniors in Comox through her role at Classic LifeCare. In 2018, Denise made a significant career shift, transitioning from a 23-year tenure at a physiotherapy clinic to becoming a Personal Care Aide and Companion for seniors.
Denise’s inspiration for this career change came from her personal experience. She witnessed her mother care for her father, who was diagnosed with Dementia. Alongside her mother’s assistance, Care Aides were also involved in providing care. “Without the support of these caregivers, my dad wouldn’t have been able to stay at home for as long as he did. Their additional support also really helped my mom and offered some respite. After both of my parents passed, I decided to follow in the footsteps of those who had helped my family and offer assistance and companionship.”
