Stepping Together: Alzheimer Walk & Run
On a bright, sunny Thanksgiving morning at Prince’s Island Park, Calgary came together in a remarkable show of unity and compassion. The 31st annual Alzheimer Walk & Run saw its largest turnout ever, with over 1,600 participants stepping up to support families affected by Alzheimer’s disease. Walkers, runners, cyclists, and even wheelchair participants filled the park, bringing with them an undeniable energy fueled by love and a shared mission.
Families gathered in full force, many joined by children, pets, and even senior dogs, all proudly sporting personalized t-shirts honoring loved ones impacted by Alzheimer’s and Dementia. The joyful ringing of bells echoed through the air as participants pressed forward, each step symbolizing hope and determination to create a brighter future.
For Britney ZoBell (the Business Development Lead at Classic LifeCare), her family, and their senior dog, this event has become more than just a walk—it’s a cherished tradition. This year, they were joined by Donna, the owner of Granddaughters Home Care for Seniors, and her family. Together, they see the Walk & Run as a powerful opportunity to bond, reflect, and celebrate the strength of community. Year after year, they take part, driven by the difference they know they’re making.
As participants moved along the course, the atmosphere buzzed with connection and support. Some walked in memory of loved ones lost, while others honored those still bravely facing the disease. But no matter their reason, everyone was united by a single purpose: to raise awareness, raise funds for research, and support families navigating the challenges of Alzheimer’s disease.
This year’s event wasn’t just about record-breaking numbers; it was about the spirit of togetherness. Calgary once again demonstrated that when a community rallies behind a cause, extraordinary things happen. Whether they were walking, running, or simply cheering from the sidelines, every individual left the park knowing they had contributed to something truly meaningful.
We walk to inspire change—and on this special Sunday, Calgary showed just how powerful that change can be.
